WWII Scrap Drive Bomb Sign
Description:
Hand made wooden scrap drive sign made to look like a bomb. Measures 44” by 17” at the widest part of the tail. This was discovered at a Homefront museum that was closing in CA a few years ago. The sign was used as an arrow to direct the public where they should dump their metal to help make war materials, in this case a bomb, to drop on the axis powers. The Salvage For Victory campaign was created so that all Americans can do their part for the war effort. These scrap drives resulted in millions of pounds of metal, rope, paper, rubber and even waste fats for explosives. Hanging brackets were added by the museum when they obtained it for display purposes. One of a kind item.
