1930’s Ocean City New Jersey Wonderland Pier Eli Ferris Wheel

Change your tune now. One of the rarest collectible from Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, Ocean City, New Jersey. Found in storage and purchased from the Gillian  family,  the original 1930’s Eli Ferris Wheel  amusement park ride  operated at the park back in the 1930’s until 1990 when the Mighty Eli was retired to make room for a water park. Eli Wheel was  taken apart and stored saving every piece of heavy steel structure along with cables, bolts , pins, seats and motor. The wheel will need to reassembled along with some minor refurbishing  but nothing major. Enlarge photo below to see the wheel as it operated over 94 years ago. Truly a real piece of Americana with history dating back to Ocean City over 9 decades ago.

David Gillian started the family’s amusement legacy with “Gillian’s Fun Deck” at Plymouth Place in 1929 featuring a merry-go-round and the Eli wheel. In 1965 Roy Gillian , Davids father,  split from the family business to establish Wonderland Pier taking the Eli along as well as the 1926 carousel. In 1990 the Ferris Wheel was taken apart and safely stored away until our recent purchase. Call, text or email if you need any additional information. A must for any historical museum
